As
Sweet As Honey, 2011, mixed media with encaustic on panel, 36 x 36 inches.
This
piece was made for Pollination: Beyond the Garden, a show curated by
Gregory Wright in 2012 for the Brush Gallery in Lowell, Mass. Subsequently, the show was
featured at Art Current Gallery in Provincetown during the 2012 Encaustic
Conference. My constructed painting contains handwritten, printed, and stamped
information about bees and honey along with dominoes and represents the vital
work of bees in pollinating flowers. I also meant it to allude to the way
people cross-pollinate in civilization. As Sweet As Honey is currently
available at Arden Gallery in Boston. --N.N.
